The purpose is to keep the Bettis Community connected through our baseball team (The Bettis Dodgers) as well as sponsoring The Bettis Reunion every two years. Newsletters are done twice a year.


  Mt. Canaan Association Mentoring Program (MCAMP)
 

Mt. Canaan Association Mentoring Program (MCAMP) is responsible for establishing mentoring programs to introduce young men to issues of life that will assist them in their further development as they become teenagers and young male adults. Such programs shall include, but not be limited, to mentoring opportunities in computer science, carpentry, masonry, business economics, religion, mathematics, music, gymnastic and building self esteem. Young men from the age of four ( 4) may be accepted in this program. All mentoring sessions will be held at Bettis Campus unless otherwise agreed upon by the moderator and the chairperson on MCAMP


  Bettis Academy Heritage Corridor Team (BAHCT)
 

Shall be responsible for revitalization / restoration of the buildings and grounds of Bettis Academy. It shall work in conjunction with PR T of Edgefield and Columbia, SC as well as the Moderator of Mt. Canaan Association to assure all actions taken toward revitalization/restoration of Bettis Academy meets their intent. It shall sponsor tours, make recommendations for improvement to facilities and programs, if applicable to meet PRT requirements. It shall make a progress report at the mid-term and Annual Session of the Association. May be required to give an update report at the Executive Board Meeting.


  Long Range Planning Team (LRPT)
In an effort to better serve the Mt. Canaan Association, Inc., the Long Range Planning Team (LRPT) was organized to document and followup with long and short range plans. The team consists of 12 persons and is further defined as follows:

Team A - Brick Sales/Communication
Shall Launch brick sales, generate list of potential donors, draft letters for review and approval by the Long Range Planning Team (LRPT) and send letter to potential donors. Present and obtain approval from the Mt. Canaan Associational body to purchase a donation “Plaque” to display the name of donor who donated funds rather than purchased a brick. Review and send out notification for all LRPT meetings, and correspondence related to LRPC affairs. Maintain accurate financial records of all donors and submit all funds received from donors to Mt. Canaan Association Treasurer.

Team B - Grant Writing/Negotiation
Shall obtain Grant Writing letter format information,draft a Grant Letter model for review by the LRPT and seek professional support to review Grant Letters. Search and locate potential Grant opportunities, complete and submit applications for Grants and monitor Grant funds to assure appropriate expenditures.

Team C - Renovation/Construction
Shall obtain all cost estimates for renovations and constructions and submit copies to the LRPT, Team B and the Mt. Canaan Association for review and approval. Develop and/or play an integral part in the design and development of drawings and sketches for renovations and construction. Develop a Bettis Academy Campus layout Plan and submit all drawings, sketches, layout plans and etc. to the LRPT for approval prior to presenting to the Mt. Canaan Association Body. Follow up during renovation and construction projects to ensure measures are carried out per the approved drawings and sketches. Work in conjunction with the LRPT, the Brightharp’s Lake Development Team, the Bettis Memorial Garden Team and the Bettis Heritage Corridor Team to assure future plans for Bettis Academy remains intact with the attended guidelines for the Campus as mandated by the Mt.
